Wednesday Afternoons Music

Experience the curious and beguiling sounds of historical wind instruments as they were heard by the nobility of Revolutionary Europe. Boxwood & Brass take you on a night-time journey through the courts of Germany and Austria at the turn of the 19th century in our modern take on Nachtmusik, the fashionable entertainment of the period. Beginning with the symphonic grandeur of one of Mozart’s late symphonies distilled into an intense 6-part arrangement, we’ll lead you through a sequence of ever-more-intimate serenades, culminating in one of Beethoven’s most popular works as transformed by his student Carl Czerny.

Mozart arr. Percival - Symphony No. 39 in Eb: I Adagio-Allegro
Krommer arr. Havel - Partita in F Op. 57: III Adagio-Andante
Beethoven arr. Gambaro - Trio Op. 87 in C: II Adagio
Karl Jacobi - Duet for bassoons Op. 5 No. 2: II Andante Sostenuto
Carl Stamitz - Quartet in Eb for clarinets and horns
Mozart - Serenade in Eb K. 375: III Adagio
Beethoven arr. Carl Czerny - Septet in Eb Op. 20: II Adagio
Krommer: Partita in Eb Op. 69
